A year ago I was really discouraged. I thought, “Who am I to sew? This is too much for me. I’ll never get better.” Two things helped me power through this pity party: loving encouragement from my husband and Tilly and the Buttons. I stumbled upon Tilly’s blog by accident. One of the best accidents I have ever made. My husband purchased me a signed copy of her book Love at First Stitch for Christmas (cool points for him) and I have decided my next several projects will be from here. First up is the Brigitte Scarf.
I found this lovely fabric and wish I had gotten yards and yards of it. The scarf is pretty simple to make. It is great for practicing the basics. Tilly has you make your own pattern, which is quite fun. It made me feel more like a pro…even if I’m just drawing a long rectangle on a piece of paper. And now I can sew as many head scarves as I want!
If you want to start sewing, or even if you already sew, I highly recommend Tilly’s blog and book. She makes sewing less scary, she has wonderful taste in fashion, and she’s British. There is so much to love about her!
Raising my coffee mug to you. If you’re in need, here’s a little Monday pick-me-up.
Love the fabric and the scarf looks fab on you! Tilly’s book is great and I’ve made a few things from her patterns. I look forward to seeing what you make next! Happy sewing! :)

Thanks for making me aware of Tilly’s patterns! I love the MATHILDE blouse and want to have a go at it when I’m more experienced. I’ve mentioned you in my blog because I believe credit should be given to sources. Thanks, Felicity (Creative Little Cwtch)
